Dear
Melissa,
How are you at the university? I
hope everything is well on your side. It’s been a while since we talk to each
other. I need to ask you for some advice regarding this problem that I am
facing.
I have been a member at
Photography Club for a year now. Through the club, I gained lots of experience
and new friends. I am happy there.
However, our parents opposed of
my participation with the club. They told me to quit and focus on my study. I couldn’t
see why I should quit. But they threaten to cut my allowance if I kept being
obstinate.
I didn’t want to quit the club
but I didn’t like to oppose our parents either. I didn’t know what I should do. Please
advise me on what to do. If it’s
possible, I want to stay the course. I’ll be looking forward to hear
from you soon!
Your
sincerely,
Maria

MODEL QUESTION
During last school holiday, you attended a motivational camp organized by your school. Write a letter to your friend telling him about your experience at the camp. Your letter should not be less than 120 words.
MODEL ANSWER
Dear Adam,
How are you and your family? I hope you and your family are in the pink of health. I’m sorry for being late in replying your letter. I was busy last week as I attended a motivational camp organized by my school.
Only 100 students were chosen to participate at the camp and I was lucky to be one of them. It was held at a campsite near our school. The place was beautiful and a man-made lake was built in the centre of the area. The area was scenic and serene.
One of the most interesting activities was the Owl Night on the second night. We were separated and placed at different locations in the campsite. The purpose of the activity was to encourage us to be brave.
I also tried canoeing and flying fox for the first time. I was afraid of height but I wanted to try those activities to conquer my fear. I was glad that I tried them.
Through this camp, I made lots of new friends. We were sad when we had to leave but there’s always a way for us to keep in touch. Well, that’s all from me. I hope to hear from you soon!

Dear my
sweet cousin Emma,
Thank you for your letter. I’m
sorry to hear you’re feeling unhappy and lonely in the new school. Don’t be
sad. I am sure it just temporary. Who know, it might be a blessing in disguise.
In your letter, you said you’re
feeling nervous and out of place at the new school. Rest assured cousin, it’s
normal for everyone! That feeling is temporary and you’ll grow out of it in
time.
You also mentioned feeling pressure as the school has high expectation. Your
new school is one of the best in the country. It intends to achieve the best
results possible. This is normal and you should felt competitive as well. After
all, isn’t that why you choose the school in the first place? Didn’t you say
you wanted to be successful? You’re already in the right place for that.
I understand it’s lonely to not
having a friend. Your classmates probably wanted to know you as well but don’t
know how to approach you. Just make the first step. You can also try joining clubs,
sports or participate in any extra curricular activity. After all, bird of a
feather flock together.
Don’t give up yet cousin! Keep
your chin up and look on the brighter side. Things might not be as bad as you
think. I hope to hear from you soon!
Your sincerely,
Mina
